Decipher Announces Formation of Advisory Board
St. Louis, MO – January 24, 2019 – Decipher, an independent competitive intelligence (CI) provider to global law firms committed to reducing lateral hire risk, announced the formation of its advisory board which includes leaders from all legal industry sectors. Members of the board include: Zena Applebaum, Director of Professional Firm & Corporate Segments with Thomson Reuters in Canada, Nicholas Bruch, Director of ALM Intelligence, David Stewart, partner with Griffiths & Partners and former Global Managing Partner of international law firm, Olswang, and Tony Williams, a principal of Jomati Consultants and former Global Managing Partner of Clifford Chance.

Ms. Applebaum is responsible for client feedback and intelligence, market insights, and sales enablement at Thomson Reuters in Canada. Prior to Thomson, she was the Director of Competitive Intelligence at Bennett Jones LLP, having pioneered the discipline of law firm CI, and authoring “Business Intelligence for Law Firms” published in November 2012. She is a contributor to blogs including 3 Geeks and a Law Blog. In 2015 she was inducted as a Fellow of the Council of CI Fellows; she has been a sessional instructor the University of Toronto iSchool, Rutgers University and a guest lecturer at law schools across North America.
Mr. Bruch is a Director at ALM Legal Intelligence, the organization’s principal analyst for the legal market and is the Director of the ALM Intelligence Fellows Program. His research on the legal market is regularly featured in The American Lawyer and other industry leading media outlets. Prior to joining ALM, he worked at Huron Consulting’s Law Firm Strategy Practice in the firm’s New York and London offices.
Mr. Stewart qualified as a UK solicitor in 1989, and built a strong reputation as a disputes lawyer in London at SJ Berwin (now King and Wood Mallesons) and then Olswang, where he was Head of Commercial Litigation (1998-2007) and then Managing Partner, until he left in 2014 to join Griffiths & Partners as a partner. Based in Turks and Caicos, David has broad disputes and transactional experience. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a CEDR accredited mediator, and has 28 years of experience working as a lawyer in international firms on a wide variety of complex matters.
Mr. Williams has more than 35 years in the legal industry in practice and in senior management positions. As principal of Jomati Consultants, Tony has worked for a range of international and domestic law firms in over 50 countries. His advice covers the full range of strategic, management, client relationship and partnership issues including mergers, new offices, alliances and team hires. Mr. Williams was with Clifford Chance for almost 20 years including roles in London, Hong Kong and Moscow and finally as Global Managing Partner. He then moved to Andersen Legal until its dissolution following the collapse of Arthur Andersen. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Law (UK) and a non-executive board member of the the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
