CAREERS

As a team member at Decipher Investigative Intelligence, you will be a part of an award-winning collaborative team environment, where you will be provided with training and guidance. And you will be a critical part of our mission to help our law firm clients make better decisions, avoid financial losses and prevent reputational harm.

Unlike basic screening services, we combine quantitative data with human intelligence to accurately assess candidates’ business, skills, work style and character. Armed with this information, our clients grow safely and more efficiently, with success rates far exceeding the industry average.

What qualities are the most important in a successful candidate?
While members of our team come from a variety of backgrounds, areas of study and life experience, successful candidates will share four important characteristics:

  • The ability to be a self-starter;
  • Receptiveness to feedback and willingness to adapt;
  • Time management; and
  • Communication.

Communication is key; verbal and written presentation is a foundation of what we do.

What does Decipher do?
Decipher provides pre-hire lateral due diligence to law firms. In short, we help our clients protect their revenue and reputation by avoiding risky hires. You can learn more about our services here.

What kind of schedule would I have?
For your first few months with Decipher, you will have a regular schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.

After you graduate from training, you will have a flexible schedule with every other Friday off.

Where do you work?
Our team is based out of Decipher headquarters in St. Louis. While there may be some opportunities for flexible work options, the ability to report to the office is critical. We are currently limiting our search to local candidates.

Our workplace was honored among the St. Louis Business Journal’s Best Places to Work award winners for 2023. Decipher isn’t just committed to building safe, healthy, and high-performing workplaces for its clients, it delivers on this promise for its own employees as well.

How do the teams operate?
To provide variety, development and growth opportunities, our intelligence analysts rotate every week among three skill-based teams:

  • Source Research: Gather secondary source market data, identify primary sources, and compile background information for each project
  • Primary Source Interviews: Conduct telephone interviews using our script guide and techniques
  • Client Report Drafting: Write client updates and reports to share the relevant intelligence

How do you onboard new employees?
Training typically is done over a 90-day period. New intelligence analysts complete a step-by-step training process with the goal of doing some independent work in the first four weeks. Throughout the onboarding period, new intelligence analysts work closely with our coordinators to ensure they have the training, resources and knowledge necessary to succeed.

“You will never stop learning, which is a great thing and should be embraced”
